Oh yes… I have named this new adventure set before us as Operation Trial Child. Some good friends of ours have pointed out that we have been praying for a child and now God has provided. While I think that’s very funny of God, I also accept what God has for us and I am so happy to have Blake with us now!
We picked him up last Wednesday and headed back to Texas. We were only home long enough to get him enrolled in school, go to a football game and then head to Oklahoma to hunt.
I know God’s timing is perfect in all this because being in Oklahoma with no technology, no friends around and nothing to distract him has been exactly what he needed to start his transition into his new home with us. It has been great for him and Corey to get to bond over guns, trucks and camo. And he is having the time of his life.
One thing that he has his heart set on doing is going to the Youth Challenge Program when he turns 16 in February. Here he can get his GED early and then start working. While we will support him in this if he decides to go this route, we also want to encourage him to finish high school and experience what it means to be a kid. There have been multiple times this week that he has talked about “Next Year” or “This Summer”. This gives me so much joy because that means he can see himself with us next year instead of being at this program.
I am aware that all could change when we get back to Texas and back to “real life.” Once we get into a routine we will be able to better tell what his future looks like. But for now we think it is looking bright.
PRAYER REQUESTS for BLAKE: That good influences come into his life. The desire to do good in school. That he gets involved with football at Brock. Learns how to deal with his emotions in a healthy way. No drugs. Finds a healthy focus. That he desires God.
What a great blog! Always keeping the Daniel Family in my prayers for Gods will!
Looks like Blake is having a blast! 🙂
