Arise & Build Part 2

April 2, 2014

As I was dwelling on these words… Arise and build… I was praying that God would reveal what they meant in my life.  I was ready for something big to happen and I was ready to get on board with whatever He had planned for me.

On Saturday Corey came over and we planned breakfast at the Ol South Pancake House in Ft Worth.  I was finishing getting ready and he took the dog outside.  When I came in the kitchen, sitting by the coffee pot was a small maroon box with a gorgeous diamond ring decorating it.

I was SHOCKED!  I grabbed it and ran outside yelling “Baby!!”  And waiving my hand in the air all freshly decorated.  I jumped around his neck and hugged him hard!  I’m pretty sure the dog was across the street when we remembered she was out there with us.

And he asked me… “Will you marry me?”

This by far was not what I expected when God was telling me “Arise and build.”  I had literally just given up all my expectations that I had put on our relationship just 2 weeks ago.  I had given it to God and said “You’re timing is perfect… not mine.”

And the beautiful thing is that is how God works.  The moment I released the blessing back to Him instead of grabbing for it every chance I got, He gave it to me.  He wants us to know that every blessing given to us is from Him.  And He completely confirmed to me that this relationship was from Him, even though I started thinking I was the one flourishing and building it.

And God didn’t stop there with just a husband for my future.  On Sunday we were invited to a church in Weatherford by one of his student’s parents.  We both enjoyed the service.  It was right on for us.  And I suggested that we go to class after church to see what that is about.  I had looked online and saw there was a young married and engaged class. (How appropriate… right on time)  So we went to check out the class.

Right away we felt completely welcome.  It was a group of couples our age and you could see the relationships already formed in the room.  But they didn’t hesitate a moment to include us in the conversations.  The message was about tithing and money.  And I thought that was a great message for us as an engaged couple because that is going to be something that comes up often in our lives.  It was RIGHT ON too!

After class they invited us to lunch with the class.  It was incredible.  We both knew right away that this was going to be our church home.  We didn’t even have to discuss it.  So not only is God building our family, He is building our church family.  Wow!  This weekend was so completely full of blessings.  My heart is so full!
