Do The Distractions Ever End?

August 24, 2013

I think the lesson I keep learning over and over again is how distractions just never stop distracting you!!  I hate it!  I have the desire to be focused and stay in my routine but then the distraction comes and I AM DISTRACTED!

I have the desire to wake up early and run and spend time with God… but then sleepiness comes and I AM DISTRACTED!

I make the decision that I will paint another room today… but I never make it up the stairs because I AM DISTRACTED!

I have a passion and purpose to get my story out to young kids but then people come into my life that are not Kingdom minded and I GET DISTRACTED!

I am on a roll writing this blog… but then an email comes in from work and I open up my work stuff and I AM DISTRACTED!!

It’s all around.  It never ends.  I think phones and email are the most distracting things of all!  I have said this before because I had such a peaceful and quiet life before I found out what social media was!  I wish that everyone could experience the peace like that! You have no idea!!  But it’s not even an option in most people’s lives.

So the big question that remains in my life is HOW DO I STAY FOCUSED?

And the answer is within reach!  Hebrews 12:1-2 says:

“Let us lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, FIXING OUR EYES ON JESUS, the author and perfecter of faith.”

Colossians 3:2 says “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

The answer is so easy… He tells us EXACTLY what needs to be done to stay focused.  But we need to constantly remind ourselves and check ourselves to make sure our eyes and our minds are fixed on Jesus.

I’m taking some time today to re-evaluate where I am in my life and clear my mind of any distractions that are preventing me from living out my purpose.  We have so much potential as humans, if only we would allow God to use us how He wants to.
