So here’s what happened a few days later. We had been planning a little singing session with some ladies I hadn’t met but had heard about. And we finally set a date for the Saturday I was finished. I was truly expecting the 5 of us to meet and play some music. I had a few songs I wanted to teach them. And I was so excited about this because I hadn’t got to worship with the piano since I left prison. And I was missing it BAD! So I was really looking forward to this time!
But they had a little surprise waiting for me…
I didn’t know what to expect because I had never met these women before. But I was giddy as I was walking in. We headed in to the living room and everyone yelled “SURPRISE!” And I was truly surprised this time! I had no idea that there was another party just for me!! Not only were my new friends there, but my old friends, my sister, and even a friend from high school!
We ate some good food… some even better deserts and then it was on to the fun part. First they put me in the hot seat and made me sit in the front of the room while they gave me presents. (Very exciting!!) They each read a little something and there was a bead for a charm bracelet to go with each thing read. It was so neat! And each bead represents a part of my life. We sang some worship songs and prayed together and then we moved in to the piano room.
When I sat down at that piano, I felt like I was at home. Just being able to lead worship with my new and old friends was truly a blessing. I needed that worship service!
It was an amazing day! I can’t wait to do it again… not the surprise party… but just the singing and worshiping together! That’s what God made us to do! And that’s what I live for!
“To You, my God, I will sing a new song; I will sing Your sweet praises to the sound of a ten-stringed harp.” (Psalm 144:9)

This is awesome, Randi! I would love to hear you lead sometime. I hope you are getting involved in the worship ministry at your church! It has been such an amazing blessing for me. I always loved reading your posts from prison about worship. Sounds like the Lord has blessed you with an amazing gift. It is such a privilege to lead others to the throneroom!
