God has been so good to me! As soon as I was released from prison, He put me in a great job! I had always heard that it was hard for felons to get a job. And I saw this with people at the halfway house who couldn’t get a job to save their life. But what I came to realize is that the ones that wanted a job… got one. It’s not about being a felon. It is about your drive and your willingness to make a better life for yourself.
So I love my job, but after about 5 months of it, I was starting to get a little bored. I wasn’t challenged and it felt like I was stuck on robot mode when I was at work saying the same thing on the phone all day long. So you can bet that I was totally surprised when my friend Amanda, who got me the job in the first place, told me she was leaving and wanted me to take her place. I couldn’t believe it! God was on the move! There would be more responsibility and a raise! Wow! Five months of freedom and God is already opening the next door in my life.
My new job is in the Direct Placement Recruiting department. I will get to search for that one perfect candidate for the job that I have been given and then set them up with our clients. It is so exciting! It’s more personable than calling as many people as I can in one day to get them set up for interviews. And there is growth potential in this position. I can see myself making a career of it.
I never thought that I would get into Recruiting. I never even knew it existed. And I think the fact that I didn’t make any set plans coming out played a huge part in finding the right place that God wanted me. I trusted that He would bring the job. But I had no idea what it would be.
And I have the same mind set for ministry. I know my target audience, but I do not know how I will get to them. There could be many different routes that God takes me. I am ready to begin that part of my life as well. I’ve got a week and a half left under the BOP supervision…then I’m taking off running!
“The Lord shall command the blessing upon you in your storehouses, and in all that you set your hand unto; and He shall bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.” (Deut.28:8)
Congratulations on your promotion! LOVE IT!
