The coolest thing happened yesterday! I woke up to spend some time with God and do a few posts and my friend had posted a picture on Facebook that said “Rock bottom became the rock I built my life upon.” I LOVED that quote so I had to repost it on my wall. I wanted to put a scripture with it, and I knew which one it was, but I wasn’t exactly sure where it was. So I flipped to Psalm 18 first.
“The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress and my Deliverer; my God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge, my Shield and the Horn of my Salvation, my Stronghold.” (vs 2)
I thought that was a good one because it talked about the Rock I’m building this foundation on. But I knew this wasn’t the one I was looking for. So I flipped to Psalm 40:2
“He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a Rock, and established my goings.”
Now THAT’s the one! So I posted this verse with the quote. And I thought about how I needed to post it on Ashley’s wall because that is a perfect quote for her as she comes out of rehab TODAY!
So then I left for work and met Cindy for coffee cause it’s Thursday and we always meet on Thursday’s for Storming the Gates! And I was telling her about how I went to Psalm 18 first and how both these verses were perfect for the quote. And she just smiled real big and got real excited and showed me in her Bible how she was JUST reading Psalm 18 this morning! I was like WOAH! And all I could think about was Ashley! How this verse and this quote are especially for her! And once again, how I needed to post it on her wall. But I didn’t get a chance to do so.
After work I got the privilege of picking her up from the rehab so we got to talk on the ride home. And when we pulled up to the garage, she pulled out this poster and said “Look what I made in art class.” And low and behold, it said “ROCK BOTTOM BECAME THE FOUNDATION I BUILT MY LIFE UPON!”
HOLY COW! Of all days I post a quote on my facebook, it happens to be the day she gets out. And all day long God had been telling me to post this on her wall too. And I didn’t. Then she comes out with the SAME quote! I couldn’t believe it! I got all teary eyed and could see God’s Hand all over her life. He is making Himself known to her.
I wasn’t sure if she understood the significance of all this, so I pulled her aside before she went to bed to go over all of it again. And I told her how the first Thursday we ever fasted together for Storming the Gates, I was fasting on her behalf because I had just found out she was using again. And she said that mom had told her that. And I told her that it was significant that she was released on a Thursday. And she got a little teary eyed too. She gets it! She sees God’s hand in all this! And she said she needed to get a Bible because she doesn’t know where hers is. And she said she was going to start reading it.
I see the work God is doing in her heart as well. She is seeing how important it is to live for herself and her children and not anyone else. She knows that if she doesn’t do this now, then she might miss out on her chance.
And we will stand on the verse that has been her verse for over a year now in my mind.
“We WILL OVERCOME by the BLOOD of the LAMB and the word of our TESTIMONY!” Rev 12:11
