The song playing as I sit down this morning is “You Overcame.” What are the odds that we would start the year off with “Savior, worthy of honor and glory, worthy of all our praise, for You Overcame!” What a beautiful way to welcome the new year!
My first prayer of the year is to help me show more grace and more love to others. The people who I didn’t tell about Jesus last year are hearing this year! Give me more courage and boldness. Take me in your promised land.
I’m reading in Psalm 38. Verse 14 says, “Thus I was a man who hears not.” It’s talking about sin. And that is one thing about sin…you don’t hear the Lord’s voice. Or you hear it and you don’t listen, or your mind is too preoccupied to listen.
Vs. 15, “For in You O LORD, do I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God.”
Even when we aren’t listening–He hears our cry. When we are sinning, our heart is crying out to God to rescue us.
Vs. 17, “For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.” We want to stop sinning and will be living in sorrow until we do.
Vs. 18, “For I will declare my iniquity, I will be sorry for my sin.” At last…brought to the point of repentance! Now we can hear His voice and heed to His direction.
