January 1, 2013
Well… I’m not off to a good start. I already had to erase the 2012 and replace it with 2013. That will not be a prophecy of how the New Year is going to start! There will be no erasing the past. But there will be lots of looking forward.
I don’t have any new year’s resolutions. I’m not much into making a promise that might not get kept. I think I did say I was going to hit the gym harder after the first of the year. But that was because it will be more convenient then.
But there is one promise I’m going to make.
This morning at church, the sermon was titled “What To Do In The New Year.” And He talked about being realistic about the past and the future. There is no changing the past. So there is no point in looking back and longing for how it used to be.
I have had some lows in my past. And I have had some victories. I can’t live on past victories. And I can’t redo the mistakes. But there is one thing I can do. I can be responsible with the task God has given me to do now! I can make a change for Jesus right now! I can spread the gospel, pray for my friends and enemies and I can tell my story! I can give to those in need and not hold back any good thing God has given to me. I can share His love and His grace. These are the promises I will make for the new year!
I was just singing a song I wrote at the piano. And the words are fitting for the new year.
I want to be used by You
I want to do what You want me to do
I want to be used by You
Until Your work is through.
I want to be sent by You
To tell them that Your Word is true.
I want to be used by You
Until Your work is through.
You said go out and preach the Word
You said go out the sick need healed
You said go out and spread Your love
Just like you have loved me.
You said if I win souls I’m wise
You said that I should shine my light.
You said you’d send me not in my strength
But by Your power and might.
Let Him Use You!! That’s what this year is all about!
