I was so disappointed this morning. I was sitting in the van waiting to leave for work and this song came on the radio called “Getting down with Mrs. Claus.” It talked about Mrs. Claus cheating on Santa when he was gone because she was lonely.
My jaw literally dropped! I quickly put my headphones in. I could not believe that someone could take something as innocent and pure as Santa and Mrs. Claus and turn it into a vulgar pornographic song. It was disgusting!
Then I just closed my eyes with my worship music on and prayed for whoever it was that wrote that song. And the next song that I heard on my mp3 player was “You Deliver Me.” And I got overcome with emotion because of all He has delivered me from.
The song says “I feel like a sinner, my sins have been washed clean. I’m absolutely given, this heart has never seen. I must be forgiven sometimes asking why, I was chosen to be given You in this life.”
All the sins that only I remember – they are forgiven! I so wish that everybody could experience this freedom!
1 Peter 4:3,7-8 says “For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do – living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry… The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.”
Jesus’ love covered my multitude of sins. And by His grace I am able to stay clear minded and in control of the lusts and desires that surround me.
I do believe that the end is very near! There is so much sin and chaos in the world. Mass murders – vulgar music – complete disregard of God’s Word – the removal of God from schools – and so much more.
God says, “There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying it’s power. Have nothing to do with them.” (2 Tim. 3:1-4)
This is a good picture of the world today and we have to be set apart. We are to have nothing to do with them except for pray for them. Remember 1 Peter 4:7, “Be clear minded and self controlled so you can pray.”
Pray for our nation! Pray for repentance! Pray that God can reach them before it is too late!
“For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the Word of God? And if it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and sinner?” (1 Peter 4:17-18)
So PRAY! Pray without ceasing!
