My mom and I were talking this weekend and she said she heard at a seminar about picking a word to focus on throughout the year. She said instead of setting a New Year’s resolution (that never gets kept), choose a word and let it be your word for the year.
And this reminded me that at the beginning of 2012 I did choose a word for the year. It is HOPE! And I did real well for a few months. I was writing a blog every week about a scripture about hope. I had a “hope list” in the back of my journal. Some of the things I hoped for have come to pass. Some I am still hoping for.
But I realized, as my mom said about not keeping resolutions, that I had lost my focus off that word. I got distracted. But I NEVER lost my hope in the Lord!
“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’ The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:21-26)
So although I might have lost sight of my focus on this one word, I will never lose my HOPE in the Lord! Glory to God that we can put our hope in Him!
“And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.” (Heb. 6:19) “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.” (1 Peter 1:3)
