Listening to the song, “You Deliver Me,” riding backwards on the train…watching the birds fly into the beautiful sunset. They are free, so free. Just like I am. God has set me free from my old life, my old desires, my old lusts. So why would I want to be burdened again by a yoke of slavery? I look at these birds flying so free in the sky, but I see the net on the ground that could so easily trap one of them.
“…My adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) Lions eat birds, they devour them in one bite! But that is why God gave the little birds wings so they could make their escape.
“Our soul escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowler: the snare is broken and we are escaped.” Psalm 124:7. “Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.” Vs.6
If we could only learn to always soar above our circumstances instead of getting tangled up and overwhelmed by them. Then we could say as David did, “In the LORD I put my trust. How can you say to my soul, flee as a bird to your mountain?” Psalm 11:1
The troubles we face here on earth are only momentary and temporary. We have to rise above them and look for what God will bring out of them.
