My new thing every evening when I get off work is to take a 20 minute stroll through downtown Dallas before I catch my train back to the halfway house.
I put my worship music on and just walk, I’m not rushed. I’m not looking to talk to anyone or attract any attention. I’m just walking with the Lord. And I’m starting to notice things. God is opening my eyes to the joys all around me. Like the dog parks with the fountains in them, and all the people that walk their dogs. This might seem trivial to some. But it just gives me such joy to see all these dogs running around in this big busy city. I never noticed dog’s downtown when I used to hang out down here.
I look up and see all the lights on the buildings and I wonder why I never noticed these buildings before. Everything is still so new and exciting to me, like I am seeing it for the first time. My eyes have been opened. I’m seeing things in a new light. I even stopped and smelled some flower bushes the other day, I couldn’t help myself. I wanted to enjoy the flowers, and I did. Life is enjoyable. Life is full. Life is so good right now. This is what abundant life is!
“I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it abundantly.” John 10:10
