I just love that God knows me so well and He knows that sometimes He has to drive a message in with me. And it’s only 10AM and He’s already confirmed this fast like 6 times! He is so amazing!
First I opened Faith to Faith, which I don’t normally read, but it was sitting out in the chapel, so I grabbed it. And I opened up to the 16th, but I accidentally went to March 16th instead of August. And somebody wrote “fast ends” on the page and that caught my eye. So I went ahead and read the devotional because there must be a reason I turned here. The scripture reference is Hebrews 5:13-14.
“For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
LORD – I hear you telling me to desire strong meat. Search out the deeper things. Get deeper in Your Word.
Then it talks about renewing your mind on the Word of God. It says, “Your flesh might fight and buck for a while because it’s been trained to go the way of the world so long. But if you stick with the Word and keep growing, your flesh can develop the habit of righteousness just like it developed the habit of unrighteousness.”
Yes LORD – my flesh is fighting and bucking because it is NOT natural to want to STARVE myself… Yes LORD – I know You won’t let me starve.
Then it says, “Don’t starve your spirit by trying to get by on just a little spiritual milk now and then. Develop the habit of feeding on the solid food of the Word every day and find out what real maturity is all about.”
Okay LORD – I get it. I can starve my flesh, or I can starve my spirit. Well that’s an easy choice! I choose You LORD! I choose Your Word! My flesh needs to get out of the way!
IF that wasn’t enough, Daily Light says, “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own. For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Cor. 6:19-20)
LORD – I will glorify You with my body and my spirit. The price You paid is so much greater than the small sacrifice I am offering. Thank You Jesus for all You’ve done.
