I have a close friend who leaves tomorrow. Daisy and I were at Carswell together in the dog program. She has been a mentor and a role model to me. |
She’s been down 16 years… all of her adult life and she’s finally going home. I look up to Daisy very much. Where most people, after 16 years, turn hard or institutionalized, Daisy has kept her joy until this last day of her sentence. She has let her light shine so bright for Jesus that people are drawn to her… to the Jesus in her.
Daisy is one of the strongest women I know. Since I’ve known her, she has lost her father, and her mother battled cancer. And through it all, Daisy has held fast to her faith and come through.
The scripture at church on Sunday was 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 – “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
This is the picture I see when I think of Daisy. To do as much time as she has, and not lose heart… not give up… it takes a supernatural strength to do that. And Daisy knows where her strength comes from.
“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” (vs. 16-17)
I’m gonna miss my prayer partner. I’m gonna miss doing the happy dance with her. I’m gonna miss walking straight to her room when I need to vent or cry. I’m gonna miss my best friend. But it’s her time! There’s a big world out there just waiting for Daisy to make her grand appearance!
Please send up a special prayer for Daisy! She’s on her way!
praying that she makes a safe and happy return to the free world may god light her path each step of the way. praying for her and her family god bless.
