Last night at Bible study, we talked about when Moses hit the rock and God brought forth water in Numbers 20. He was angry and irritated with the people and instead of speaking to the rock – He smacked it with his rod. And on top of that, He took credit for the miracle when he said, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring water out of this rock?” (v.10)
I can feel Moses pain. I am in my own wilderness right now and sometimes I feel like I am going around in circles. Every day is the same. Same routine. Same people. Same surroundings. Same complaints.
But the Israelites biggest problem was that they didn’t believe and they didn’t trust God to take care of them. And they continually tested Him.
Praise the Lord that’s not my struggle! I believe with all my heart that God is the only One who can get me through my wilderness! But I also believe that when I complain, it hurts God. So that is something I work on every day to be better at.
“Great faith isn’t the ability to believe long and far into the misty future. It’s simply taking God at His Word and taking the next step.” – Joni Eareckson Tado
I know that God will give me just enough light for the step I’m on. And I trust Him to provide until its time to move to the next step! And each day my trust grows as He provides everything I need.
