Hope Week 11

March 10, 2012

Lamentations 3:25-26 says “The Lord is good unto them that wait for Him, to the soul that seeks Him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.”

Quietly wait? What does that mean?

“Be still and know that I am God.”

So He wants me to wait… quietly and be still?

That’s a lot to ask. I want to make a fuss! I want to make some noise! Waiting is not fun. Especially when I got all kinds of plans to get to. I got a new life to get to. New friends to meet. I got 4 precious babies to be an aunt to… well they aren’t babies anymore… more the reason to get home to them! I wanna join a kickball team and volunteer at a shelter and give piano lessons. I want to go to school and work and live an honest life… find a good church, have morning devotionals outside, talk to teens, sing in a choir… so many good plans… so what’s the hold up?

“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

So what you’re saying Lord, is that I should hold on to my plans until You tell me its time to go ahead with them? Or are You saying that You have bigger plans for me than my own? And You are “good to them who wait for You.”

Yes – that’s what You are saying. So I’m just gonna hope and wait quietly on You. And while I wait, I will seek You with all my soul!
