January 24, 2012
Last week I was praying for a word and I was reading in Daniel. I started studying Daniel before we even knew about this fast and I don’t think that was by chance.
So I’m reading in Daniel 10, and he’s on a 21 day fast again. And verse 4 says, “And on the 24th day of the first month…”
Daniel received his vision on the 24th day day of the first month. I was like “oohh… we have a 24th of January coming up… and we’re on a 21 day fast too… and it’s exactly one week into our fast.” He must have a word for us.
So today when I opened my devotional, the scripture says, “But the dove could find no place to set its feet… so it returned to Noah in the ark… He waited 7 more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in his beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf.” (Gen 8:9-11)
I heard God say loud and clear “Wait another 7 days and you will find your olive leaf.” He’s telling me to keep holding on. Delayed answers are not refusals. I know that God’s timing is always perfect. And I am going to trust Him even when I don’t see the answer – because I know He hears me.
And I am seeing answers to some of the things we’re fasting for. Ashley is in rehab, Jenniffer’s paperwork came through so she can come to RDAP and peoples hearts are being changed. So we are seeing evidence that our prayers are being heard! And I have faith that more answers are on the way!
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Heb 11:1)
