Randi’s Hearing

Hello All,

Thanks so much for your prayers and support this week.  It has been a tough week but – none-the-less – God has shown up and provides peace and hope in a seemingly hopeless situation.

Randi recieved a sentence yesterday of 90 months in a Federal Prison. That is 7.5 years.  She has already served 12 of those months at West Baton Rouge Correctional Center. She is hoping to be transferred to a prison closer to family (closer to me, yay!). Yesterday was tough but Randi had such a peace about her – even through her tears.

We were in the court room for about 30 minutes before the hearing – with Randi, her U.S. Marshall escort, her lawyer and a few others. We couldn’t talk to her, touch her or make any hand signals (not sure what they are afraid of there) but she could talk to her U.S. Marshall friend & other security dude.  They were talking and laughing – normal Randi style – and it was fun to sit there and pretend like we were hanging out like the good ‘ole days.   She has been ready for this hearing for months now.

I am going to let Randi speak for herself on how she feels about the sentence and hearing. Please continue to pray for Randi.  There will be ups and downs as she deals with God’s plan for her in the years ahead of her.

Thanks,

Shauna

I just do not understand the legal system. I know that God is ultimately in control of Randi’s sentence….but my son who has been in jail so many times it would make your head spin and has been in for very serious meth charges has never been sentenced to one day in prison. In fact recently he was back in jail for a VOP and I was pretty sure that he would go to prison, but no, he’s back out on probation.

My husband thinks it is because he lives in California and they can’t afford to keep people in prison. I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m being so harsh towards my son, but I pray that something, even if it is prison, will turn his heart to Jesus and away from drugs.

I will be praying for Randi and for your entire family. I’m sorry you couldn’t give her a hug.

    Nancy

Nancy – thanks so much for sharing your heart with us! I dont understand certain things about the legal system either but I do know God is in control. He sure gives us a lot of chances to come to Him on our own…
      Thanks for your prayers!

thanks for the update…just watched the Beth Moore video last nite (from wed) – not sure if you’ve seen it. I was amazed at the FACT that we are truly motivated (and then, steered away from God’s real ‘call’ for our lives) by fear. You sisters are amazing…I know you are afraid of the future, but in knowing you can be SURE that He’s got it all worked out for His ultimate big-plan. Remember, IF _____, THEN God. (did you get to see the video yet S?). No matter what the “IF” is, God is the “THEN” – let Him be.

“The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

    Let Him fight, Randi

    Shauna/Randi,

I just stumbled across this website today from facebook and I have been completely blessed by reading your testimony. You are doing mighty things for the Kingdom of God – my heart is filled with praise to our God – He is mighty to save! Randi, you have been chosen for such a time as this and I praise Him for blessing you with the strength to stand and witness as you are doing so faithfully. Your testimony is such witness to the character of our Father, who chooses those who are “weak” in the eyes of the world to bring the most glory to his Name. You are in my family’s prayers. There are not words to express how thankful I am for your efforts … yours is a story of God’s faithfulness that I cannot wait to share!

Ditto to what Kris shared with the additional thought that Esther TOOK the courage she was offered and the statement by B. Moore that “All perilous moments take courage…you decide what step you will take.” My prayers continue for Randi and your family.
Ps.138:8-“He will perfect all that concerns me.”
    With loving prayers,,,

Randi is always in our prayers. I happy she got 7.5 yr with a yr knocked off for time already served. This is a blessing vs. 20 or even the 40 yrs that was on the table in the beginning. Maybe she can be released early for good behavior after 2 yrs. We will keep her and your family in our prayers. God Bless.Randi has so much good to offer everyone ahead of her.

    hello Shauna/Randi,
WOW!!! what a blessing you are to me. I have a daughter who is in Carswell FMC right now. she’s been there about a month. she was arrested in April and had been in Pecos, TX. Finally, she’s at carswell. She is an addict/alcoholic and I could count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen her in the past 5 or 6 years. I prayed for her everyday, for God to change the desires of her heart so she would change. She has 2 children who live with their dad and step-mom. they are 6 and 7 now. She called me when the youngest was a year and half and told me to come get her, that she couldn’t take care of her anymore…..i did and had her for about a year and half before she went to her dads. Now my daughter is in contact with her kids (they love her dearly) and my daughter also accepted the Lord and was baptized in Pecos Fed Ctr. I don’t think she is Camp eligible, so she will be doing her time at the FMC. We email everyday and it’s such a blessing and warms my heart, the kind of person she is when she’s not meth’ed out. I love her very much and can’t wait to see her. I’m gonna try to visit her this month. I just wanted to say, I love what your doing here and it really made be feel better. Thank you and God bless you both…karen
